SAVE NORTH CENTRAL AVENUE
The City of Phoenix wants to change Central Avenue from Bethany Home Road to the Canal from a four-lane roadway to a two-lane roadway with a middle "turning lane" and add two bike lanes. The effect will inevitably be that already heavy morning and evening traffic will funnel from Central Avenue onto the smaller neighborhood streets such as Northview, 3rd Street, Orangewood, Lawrence Road, 3rd Avenue. Linger Lane, Ocotillo Road, Rose Lane, and Berridge Lane as they try to connect with 7th Avenue and 7th Street. This will completely change the character of our neighborhood and endanger our families with the inevitable re-routing of vehicular traffic.
BY JUNE 10, 2021THERE ARE TWO WAYS YOU CAN PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROTEST;
The City's Plan is not well-studied or documented, nor has its impact on residents of north central been considered.
while the goal of bike lanes in the city is worthy, two bike lanes already exist along central avenue. most importantly 20 years ago the city designed and promoted the very popular and well-used sonoran bikeway to 3rd avenue from south mountain to cave creek.
if you are worried about car danger to kids now, the city's plan should alarm you. the plan chooses high speed bikers over children.
WE LOVE OUR CITY AND OUR NEIGHBORHOOD, BUT THE CITY IS trying to CHANGe IT AGAINST THE WISHES OF THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THE AREA.
ADD YOUR VOICE TO THE 600+ RESIDENTS OF THE NEIGHBOORHOOD WHO HAVE ALREADY SPOKEN AGAINST THIS PLAN.
NORTH CENTRAL IS A JEWEL
IN THE CROWN OF PHOENIX
Phoenix, Arizona is a great place to live, work, play, and learn. The North Central neighborhood exemplifies these values and adds unique beauty to the Valley's mature-tree-lined streets. Spreading tree canopies are home to a historic family-centric multi-generational and safe community. The City wants to change it and pour Central Avenue traffic onto the small neighborhood streets.
